A total of 98 players contested the Coulsdon Chess Fellowship's Autumn 2003 congress over 5 sections, as opposed to the old 4. The tournament was the first in the new season of long play Grand Prix events for CCF. The remaining 2 rounds will be held at Christmas (20-21 December) and Easter (9-10 April).

"CCF saw another 3 figure entry (100) for a long play congress as capacity was reached for the second successive event, thankfully without the need to have to refuse entry because of lack of space. By the time our next long play congress comes along in December, the venue should be larger and able to take more players upstairs as well as allowing a reduction in what have been slightly cramped facilities." The replies I have collated show a very clear preference for Fischer timings, although I apologise for the delays caused by the particular time control I opted for. In the light of the suggestions made I am going to explore 1 hour 15 minutes each, with perhaps 20 seconds added per move."
