* Minor County. (Middx are also a Minor County.) SCCU has three Open nominations this year, and two Minor. Under SCCU rules, all of these are decided on the basis of the SCCU Open division. Open nominations are offered from the top down until the required number of teams has accepted, and a team that declines cannot be nominated in the Minor. Thus Herts take the third Open nomination, and there are not two teams remaining who are eligible for the Minor. The Executive resolved 11.3.05 to offer the second Minor nomination to Oxon on the strength of their performance in the Chiltern League. Oxon declined, and so in their turn did Bucks, and there is consequently no SCCU second nomination.

Notes
DETAILED RESULTS are in separate pages, accessible by clicking on the table headings (or from the home page). An asterisk, by a County name in the Result pages, means the result has been received from that side. (r), after a player's name, means "reserve". "r" after a grade means Rapidplay (because no Standardplay grade available). "j" after a grade means "junior" and has nothing to do with the grade. "sic" (or "so") anywhere means your Editor has typed what he received but doesn't necessarily believe it. More often he adds a footnote, and sometimes he quietly "corrects" a spelling if he's sure and it's only come from the opposing side's match captain. Even if it's come from the player's own captain, sometimes.

The other Unions
The BCF site carries a selection of detailed results. This can be a useful source of other-Union matches. (For SCCU matches, the SCCU site exceeds it in promptness, completeness and accuracy.) The EACU, MCCU, NCCU and WECU sites carry match results and/or league tables, and a number of County sites (see UK Web Chess Guide) carry reports.
