ECF GRADING LIST JULY 2013
appeared on schedule on 26th July. The list is at http://www.englishchess.org.uk/grading/database/. Corrections, and the odd late addition, are still coming in. One expected event (a small summer league) is missing as we write.
In the table below, all figures except 2013 are taken from the pre-season August revision. 2013 is in sync with the July list and will be updated if we don't forget. January grades are omitted: we have retained the twelve-month spacing of lists for comparison's sake, and the figures for players and halfgames graded represent the whole season.
For a table going two years further back, see the 2010-11 Grading page. Remember that grades up to and including 2008 are Old Grades. New Grades were introduced in 2009.

NOTE ON TEXT SIZE. If you've got your text set to Large, you may need to reduce it to make the table display correctly.

Figures in brackets are mean grades. "Players active" are players with at least one graded game in the most recent season.

THE NEW MEMBERSHIP PAYMENT STRUCTURE
How has the new setup impacted on the number of games graded? Those who have not decided already will want to compare the 2013 figures with the 2011 ones (not 2012 because of its extra month). Bear in mind that we haven't had a full year of the new setup yet, so any grading-season-on-grading-season comparison will be flawed. There is also, of course, some risk of post-hoccery in this sort of exercise. That said, a 2011 comparison is straightforward in the table above. A breakdown by event type may also be helpful. We give some below, for the last three seasons. 2011 and 2012 have appeared before, if you look in previous years' pages.

2011: a breakdown by event type
See table on right. Numbers are halfgames. "Miscellaneous" means friendly matches, jamborees, county championships played over a period of time, anything that won't fit elsewhere.

Juniors published: 2563 (Standard 1066, Rapid 2127). Specifically Junior events: 46998 halfgames (Standard 11898, Rapid 35100).

2012: a breakdown by event type
The big increase in Congress grading, from 116,931 halfgames last year, owes much to the season's extra June.

Juniors published: 2872 (Standard 1097, Rapid 2487). Specifically Junior events: 58134 halfgames (Standard 12504, Rapid 45630).
